This is the Hyundai-Kia R-series CRDi diesel engine family, developed at the company’s European R&D center, that powered the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe (DM), Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson between 2011 and 2019. Available in 2.0L and 2.2L forms, these engines combine strong torque with refined, efficient power delivery.
Built with a cast-iron block, an aluminum 16-valve cylinder head and a chain-driven timing system, the R-series engines use a Bosch Common Rail fuel system at up to 1,800 bar with piezo injectors. Variable-geometry turbocharging (VGT) provides responsive boost across the rev range.
These engines are ideal replacements for the popular crossover and SUV models listed. Each unit is compression-tested, leak-checked and inspected before shipment.
